Acidophilus: Aids in Digestion

Acidophilus, or lactobacillus, aids in digestion. There are numerous types of lactobacillus that normally live in our digestive, urinary & genital systems. These “friendly bacteria” live in our systems without causing disease and help us break down food, absorb nutrients and fight off “unfriendly” organisms that may cause diseases such as diarrhea. Cape Fear Naturals Acidophilus is 60 count of 6 billion units per capsule of 8 different strains. It is a balanced blend of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus salivarius, Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium longum. Our Acidophilus is kept refrigerated.

Acidophilus can be used for the treatment of digestion problems, the treatment and prevention of diarrhea & to boost the immune system. Acidophilus can be used to treat digestion problems such as IBS, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, and inflammation of the colon. It is helpful with IBS in that it may reduce the symptoms associated with IBS such as bloating and stomach pain. It is effective in the treatment of diarrhea in children caused from the rotavirus. It’s been shown that children who are treated with lactobacillus recover from their diarrhea about a half a day earlier than without the use of lactobacillus. There have been studies that even show it to be effective for those taking lactobacillus to prevent diarrhea when traveling. Taking the specific strain of lactobacillus rhamnosus, which is in Cape Fear Natural’s Acidophilus, seems to help prevent diarrhea in travelers. Studies have also shown that taking acidophilus can enhance immunity.

Suggested Use: Take one to two capsules daily.
