Natural vs. Synthetic Skin Care vs. Products: Which is best for You?

Posted by James Whitley on

When it comes to skin care products, there are a growing number of people who are very particular about using only natural skin care products. These people know that most synthetic products contain ingredients that are harmful to the skin. So, could natural skin care products be the perfect solution to your problem skin? Do synthetic skin care products do more harm than good? These are two questions you must ask yourself if are considering making the switch to our natural health products.

Your selection of a natural skin care product should be based on 4 factors:
  1. Your skin type (dry, oily, normal or sensitive). Not all natural skin care products are suitable for all skin types.
  2. The climatic conditions in which it will be used e.g. heat and humidity.
  3. The process for application/use of the natural skin care product: A good natural skin care product (in fact any product) will be ineffective if used improperly. Generally, the learning curve for using these natural products is usually pretty low.
  4. The ingredients: Start reading labels and choose ingredients you recognize. If it doesn't sound like something you'd like to put in your mouth, then it's probably not something you should put on your skin. Most people think nothing of applying ingredients they don't recognize to their skin. However, that is a mistake. Synthetic deodorants contain a rogue's gallery of unhealthy chemical such as Cocamide DEA/MEA, Sodium lauryl/laureth sulphate and cocamidopropyl betaine.

Organic fruits, and herbal oils for the basis of many as a natural skin care products. Some essential oils, for example, are known for their moisturizing and antiseptic properties. However, using a natural skin care product does not mean that you can neglect other aspects of your skin care regime. Natural skin care products should be used as supplements to the following 'essential' recommendations: healthy eating habits (avoiding oily food), regular exercise, drinking a lot of water (8 glasses everyday), and cleanliness. All these habits are at the core of any skin care health regime. Our products - such as our Retinol A cream and our Camellia Moisturizing Cream - can help protect the body's largest organ – the skin.
